ANUSA should be a body about fighting back, against all of the threats that face students and the left in society today. The growth of the religious far-right and their attacks on women's and LGBTI rights, the rising cost of living, and the climate crisis – are all key issues students should be fighting against in the street. But for years, at ANU our student union has been asleep at the wheel.
We need activists in ANUSA to take these attacks head on. I’ve got experience in organising climate protests including both of the protests at ANU this year, fighting for the rights of women and LGBTI people for better abortion access, organising solidarity actions with Palestine, and more. As a general representative, I’ll be arguing for ANUSA to take up these kinds of social justice issues as well as campaigns for student rights on campus, like fighting degree cuts.
