Please note that any information on individual’s votes for specific candidates in elections is not available to ANU or to the students’ associations under any circumstances.

Voting

ANUSA Elections are governed by both the ANUSA Election Regulations and Constitutions. Eligibility of members to stand for election to a position are outlined below.

Executive

Any member is entitled to vote for an Executive position.

General Representative

Any member is entitled to vote for a General Representative position.

College Representatives

A member is only entitled to vote for a College Representative position of a College if they are enrolled in that College.

Department Officers

In respect to the position of:

(a) Environment Officer - any undergraduate student may vote.

(b) Disabilities Officer - only students with disability may vote.

(c) Indigenous Officer - only indigenous students may vote.

(d) International Students Officer - only international students may vote.

(e) Queer* Officer - only gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer identifying students may vote.

(f) Women’s Officer - only people identifying as women may vote.

Electoral Offences

The Election Regulations set out a number of electoral offences designed to protect the integrity of elections and to prevent harassment or intimidation of candidates, voters and staff. Specifically, it is offence to entice voters through food and drink, to attempt to watch how a person casts their vote, and to engage in repeat unwanted contact online or in person.

If you believe you have been coerced into voting in a particular way, or if you suspect somebody may have breached the Election Regulations, please contact the Probity Officers by emailing sa.probity@anu.edu.au. Alternatively, you may provide an anonymous report through the ANUSA website (“Contact ANUSA”).
